Bollywood is stepping up its game in the horror comedy genre with films like “Bhediya” (starring Varun Dhawan) and “Phone Boot” (starring Katrina Kaif).
A look at eight Bollywood films that successfully combine horror and humor in the proper amounts. They managed to keep us amused and frightened at the same time, which is just what we needed.
1. Stree (IMDb: 7.5)
This dark comedy horror film is based on the urban legend of Nale Ba, which tells of a witch who kidnaps men in the middle of the night while they are alone themselves, leaving only their clothes behind.

An ancient home in the neighborhood is shown in the movie as the setting for a terrifying encounter that takes place between a little girl and a purported witch. The residents of the neighborhood think that the house is haunted.

3. Bhool Bhulaiya 1 (IMDb: 7.4)
Bhool Bhulaiya 1, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, is widely regarded as one of the best horror comedies to come out of Bollywood.
This film’s score of 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb ensures that it will be an excellent source of entertainment.
4. Bhoot Police (IMDb: 7)
Vibhooti and Chiraunji, two brothers, are tasked with the investigation of a seemingly routine case involving the elimination of evil spirits in a rural hamlet.
They quickly see, despite everything, that there is nothing typical about the scenario at all.
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, and Jacqueline Fernandez, this movie will keep you engaged.
5. Bhootnath (IMDb: 6.3)
A family is in the process of moving into a new home when they become aware of a hostile ghost who is intent on scaring them out of the house.
The first part of the film is structured like a standard horror movie, but then it takes an unexpected turn when the ghost turns out to be nice to children.
This film will transport you to another era thanks to Amitabh Bachchan’s performance as a ghost.
6. Go Goa Gone (IMDb: 6.6)
When a group of people who are merely trying to have a good time at a rave party on an isolated island in Goa discovers that the island is overrun by flesh-eating Zombies, their plans quickly change. This odd movie is one that everyone should see since it has such brilliant actors as Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, and Vir Das.
7. Bhool Bhulaiya 2 (IMDb: 5.7)
Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav, and Tabu are playing pivotal parts in the film, which was directed by Anees Bazmee and is also starring Rajpal Yadav.
The horror-comedy that you’re about to see is one of the few Bollywood films that has been profitable at the box office so far in 2018.
Accidentally running into one other, Reet (played by Kiara) and Ruhan (played by Kartik) find themselves drawn into the tale of an abandoned home and a ghost held captive inside it.
What follows is an upbeat comedy-horror-drama style of storytelling.
8. Golmaal Again (IMDb: 4.9)
Golmaal 4 marked the beginning of Rohit Shetty’s exploration into the horror genre.
He enlisted the help of Parineeti Chopra so that she could portray a female ghost in the film.
The events that lead to her death and that of her father are the primary focus of the film. Her boyfriend’s motivation was to inherit her estate.
Therefore, after passing away, she appears as a ghost in order to ask the Golmaal brothers for their assistance in exacting revenge on those who wronged her.
Ajay Devgn eventually develops romantic feelings for her, whilst Arshad Warsi continues to be terrified of her.
